Stop Pumping Gas: Ten Hot Home Office Jobs
Yahoo.com

With fuel prices topping four dollars per gallon in some states, many Americans want to keep their paychecks in their pockets and out of their gas tanks. Thanks to cheap Internet access and fast computers, some workers can perform their jobs just as well from home as they can in the office. Government analysts recently identified ten fast-growing jobs that combine higher-than-average hourly wages with the benefits of working from home.

Are you serious?!

Well my friends. This blogger is indeed one happy camper today.

Why you ask? My University has called a snow day.

I'm in disbelief and currently thanking my lucky stars.

(It's amazing how exhilarated, awake and alive I feel at 6:45 a.m. when I know I don't have to go to work - or class! Yay!!!)

Coworkers, please nudge me occasionally

From the New York Times:

Bosses of a publishing firm are trying to work out why no one noticed that one of their employees had been sitting dead at his desk for five days before anyone asked if he was feeling okay. George Turklebaum, 51, who had been employed as a proof-reader at a New York firm for 30 years, had a heart attack in the open-plan office he shared with 23 other workers.

He quietly passed away on Monday, but nobody noticed until Saturday morning when an office cleaner asked why he was working during the weekend.

His boss said: "George was always the first guy in each morning and the last to leave at night, so no one found it unusual that he was in the same position all that time and didn't say anything. He was always absorbed in his work and kept much to himself."

The moral of the story: Don't work to hard. Nobody notices anyway.

Hallelujah

I've worked for my current employer for nearly a year now. Specifically, 349 days. In that time, I have run into construction on my commute every single day... that is until today.

No cones. No lane ending signs.

Can I get a Hallelujah?!!!

This has made my day.

Ever feel like this?

I will not complain.

I will not complain.

I will not complain...

* I love what I do. There just seems to be quite a bit of it!

Take it or leave it?

My husband flew to another city this morning for work. He'll be back this evening.

It all just sounded incredibly exhausting to me.

Do you travel in your job? Do you like to travel? Or, would you rather not?

Knots

This is how my stomach feels at this very moment.

I haven't set foot at work since last Thursday evening and I'm in knots thinking about returning tomorrow.

I know work tends to go in cycles, stressful sometimes and not at all during other times.

I also know that this feeling will be over. Probably sooner than later.

I really need to work on leaving the stress (emotions) at the door.
