$51 bones!

Holy crap. It amazes me that they can charge so much for birth control pills.

Yesterday, I thought I had lost and/or accidentally thrown out two months worth of pills. After looking EVERYWHERE (or so I thought), I conceded and decided to go to my friendly neighborhood drug store to see what, if anything, could be done.

What could be done? NOTHING. Instead, they smiled at me and said I could buy two packs for 102 big ones! $102 bucks! Seriously?! Talk about inflation!

Now, personally, I care more about the fact that my pills provide me with great relief from cramps (a medical reason!) than the "controlling of birth." Heck, if I just wanted birth control, I'd seek other alternatives.

This, my friends, is crap. I feel so bad for those people out there without insurance. Free clinics are great and all, but it just doesn't seem right.

Perhaps I'll riot.

(FYI... I did end up finding my perscription after I had decided to, after 10 years or so, "wing it" and be off of the pill. I took one immediately.)

My cousin takes b.c. pills for health reasons, but she doesn't have insurance. So, I have my friend who works for an OBGYN steal them for her. I can't believe how much they cost!

That is ridiculous! And this is a big reason retail pharmacists get so much crap! For you readers out there who may be unaware of this, the pharmacist does not set the price of your prescription(s)! Talk to your insurance companies, drug manufacturers, etc.! Don't take it out on the poor pharmacist behind the counter (I've seen this one too many times in my lifetime and this has prevented me from seeking employment in this highly lucrative area of practice!). Okay, I'll get down off my soapbox now.

When I had insurance at Owens, my pills were $2.

Then, I had C.'s insurance, then they went up to like $19.

Now, I have no insurance - I think they're $27.

K. - can you switch to a generic? I'm on tri-nessa, the generic of Ortho Tri-Cyclen.

(Ridiculous, though. However, go over and read Traci's blog about how much a baby costs. Eek. http://tracifishbowl.blogspot.com/)

Hehehe... JK.

Just so you know... The pharmacists were very friendly. I did not blame them for the lack of options. But, I do realize that many people take things out on the messenger.

Totally the fault of insurance companies.
