Quick flick wrap-up

While "studying," I took breaks by watching movies here and there. I'm sure most of you have already seen these, but thought I'd offer my review.

1. Sweeney Todd - Very good. A little to bloody for my taste. Johnny is always tremendous. And, I enjoy Helena Bonham Carter too. I would give it a solid 8 out of 10.

2. I Could Never Be Your Woman - Just ok I think. I really like both Michelle Pfieffer and Paul Rudd. Unfortunately, though, this is one of those movies that you could totally forget about the moment it ends. (It did have "Have I the Right" by the Honeycombs on the soundtrack though... Andrew liked that.) I would give it a 5 out of 10. (Man, I'm tough.)

3. Princess - Yes. This is embarrassing. It was an ABC movie. I watched. But would not watch again. I'm all about Cinderella stories. This just was not it. Oh, and seriously, "Sunshine" from "Remember the Titans" has got to be in his mid-30s now. Not the ideal "prince" for this kind of thing. 3 out of 10.

4. The Wedding Date - This is one of those movies I could watch over and over again. I'm not sure why. Though, I think it has something to do with Dermot Mulroney's hotness. I would highly recommend as a chick flick. And, it ALWAYS seems to be on TV! 9 out of 10.

That's all I can think of for now... But I'm sure there were others. I really tend to procrastinate when homework is involved...

A coincidence?

Ever think about that fact that all the "Best Actor" honors this year went to Europeans?

Javier Bardem No Country for Old Men (from Spain)
Tilda Swinton Michael Clayton (from England)
Daniel Day-Lewis There Will Be Blood (from England)
Marion Cotillard La Vie en Rose (from France)

What does that tell us? Basically, if you have an accent or are from a faraway land, you're a better actor. Seriously, even since Johnny Depp has moved abroad he's gained more credibility... (I would SO be packing my bags if I were Jessica Alba. Although I'm fairly certain that wouldn't help in her case anyway...)

P.S. I still haven't seen any of the above movies... Any worth seeing?

The Oscars

I'll keep this at a minimum.

Two things.

Cate Blanchett is the definition of elegance, class and talent.

Johnny Depp can truly do no wrong.

That's it for now. Hope you're enjoying the Oscars!

Saturday night movies

A and I endulged in a movie marathon last night. We sat down to watch Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age. My thoughts are as follows:

1) Cate Blanchett is truly amazing.
2) What great casts in both movies.
3) Joseph Fiennes is now on my list.
4) What a fabulous history lesson. (I'm sure it stayed fairly true to facts...)
5) I want to wear those dresses.
6) I'm eager to learn more about English/British monarchies.
7) I would never want to be queen of a country. She seemed so sad.
8) I'm so excited to visit London!

I think that's about it. Two thumbs up for both movies!

I enjoy Mel Brook's movies

"Blazing Saddles" was on AMC the other night with all those captions describing what really went on during filming.

I was in enthralled. It was like sensory overload. I couldn't decide whether to read the captions or watch the movie (again).

I hope they feature "Spaceballs" and "Robinhood Men in Tights" soon...

* On a side note, I'm genuinely sad that Madeline Kahn is no longer with us. She might just be my favorite actress of all time.

Choose your own adventure

How do you feel about Choose Your Own Adventure books?

Personally, I loved them back in the day. They allowed me to experience a whole new, well, adventure, every time I read them.

I used to read the same book like four times just to see what else could have happened.

Perhaps that's why my favorite movie is "Clue." Same theory I suppose.

I had a premonition...

... that I wouldn't enjoy the movie "Premonition."

It's official. I'm psychic.

It's one of the few movies I have disliked in such a strong manner.

I remained quite angry, and somewhat confused, until the wee hours of the morning.

Have you seen this movie? Agree?
