Over the course of the last week or so, I've been reading about Jill Carroll and her time as a hostage in Iraq...She was the journalist (from the Christian Science Monitor) who was held captive for nearly three months. Her captors – who hastily murdered her photographer/friend right before her eyes – later offered her full course meals and even allowed her to watch Oprah.
