Here I go

Among the many wonderful and thoughtful gifts I received this year for Christmas was a mini-Janome sewing machine. I'm not going to lie, I had mixed feelings about this gift. (I.e. a touch of excitement mixed with absolute nervousness.)

For one, I am not what you'd call a domestica diva. I never had a home-economics class in grade school. And, I'm not even sure I've ever sewn a button onto an article of clothing. Because of this, my idea of "hemming" has evolved into grabbing some safety pins and/or duct tape and going from there.

My mom (thank goodness) has taken notice.

At 26 years old, I am now prepared to dip my toes into the pool of domesticity (if that's a word...). Wish me luck.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I got one last year from my nana! A mini one is nice but there isn't much I can do with it! I tried to fix a pair of Terry's pants and got the pants stuck in the machine b/c the opening wasn't big enough! And then I tried to figure out how to change the thread myself and it took me over an hour! HAHA

If I had my mom around it would have been nice but I do like the idea of being able to sew using a sewing machine! I want to be one of those mom's who can make clothes/costums for their kids that they don't want to wear.....just like my mom did for me ;-)

That is SO cool. Seriously. I always have wished that I knew how to sew. Unfortunately, I can't. I had to sew a button on my coat on Christmas Day and C. announced to me that even that, I did incorrectly.

Look out Project Runway, HERE.YOU.COME.
