Different priorities

As I make my way through some of D-Town's struggling neighborhoods each day, I'm baffled by the sight of dilapidated houses barely able to stand straight and the extremely out-of-place satellite tv dishes attached to broken windows.

"Well, honey, the windows are broken, the door is unhinged, we have no heat, and the front porch is about to cave in. Wanna get a satellite dish?"

Not my first choice by far.

I couldn't agree more. I used to work in the grocery store in the town near where I grew up. As a result, I knew who was on food stamps. The thing was, all of them had cable. I never understood that (probably because I wasn't on food stamps, but didn't have cable). I figured if their kids were eating generic mac and cheese every night, they shouldn't have cable.

I'm smiling.

What? Satellite isn't a necessity?

Or the houses that are about to evaporate into dust, but the cars parked in the driveway have rims. 'Cause you know, you NEED rims. To look good for all the neighbors.
